Total harvesting by species

Looking at the species harvested within New Zealand shows us what our priorities are when it comes to the forestry market.

What is the data telling us?

The majority of our plantation forests are Radiata pine, therefore Radiata has made up 93% of the total volume harvested over the last 3 years.

Since 2018, the total volume harvested across all species has decreased. Note that harvesting and log exports in 2020 were severely disrupted due to COVID-19.
