The Forestry ETS and NES-PF
This event is hosted by Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service. It is part of the ForestTECH 2021/22 pre-conference workshops, but also open to people not attending ForestTECH.
This half-day workshop will focus on changes to the Forestry Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and an update on National Environmental Standards for Plantation Forestry.
The Climate Change Response Amendment Act 2020 makes extensive changes to the Forestry ETS. These changes are intended to drive a substantial increase in afforestation and participation in the scheme, and significantly change the operational approach to managing Forestry ETS services. The Forestry ETS Transformation Programme is responsible for designing the services required to support the legislative process and implement new regulations. The first part of the workshop will explain the changes being undertaken and the implications for foresters, including a new operating model, new technology platform and the new regulations.
The second part of the workshop will cover the recent Year One Review of the NES-PF and its ongoing role in resource management and response to climate change.
There will be opportunities for questions and answers.
ForestTECH 2021/22 attendees are welcome to attend any of the pre-conference workshops being held on Tuesday, 22 February 2022.
Bookings for people who won’t be attending ForestTECH 2021/22 can also be made directly to firstname.lastname@example.org
